The Governing Board election of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) will now be held in two weeks, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has directed.
Amaechi gave the order during a meeting with the aspirants.
The high point of the meeting was the directive that the election should be held in all the zones to save the contestants from the issues of logistics.
Under this arrangement, the election shall now hold in the South Eastern zone, South Western zone operational areas.
Contestants in Abuja airport, Lagos airport, Port Harcourt airport, Kano airport and Seme border will also hold their election separately.
This has been the prayer of most of the contestants.
The Minister also insisted that the election would be held in accordance with the provisions of the CRFFN Act.
He said the Ministry cannot hold the election contrary to the CRFFN Act, adding that this would amount to undermining Nigeria’s constitution.
With the Minister’s directive, independent candidates will now be allowed in what may upset the freight forwarders associations who had planned a sharing formula for their registered members.
