It was a hard time for bank customers in many parts of Lagos, particularly Alimosho Local Government Area, as banks kept their doors shut against those who came for transactions.

Our Correspondent who visited Ikotun, Igando and Idimu-Egbeda road observed that the banks were shut.

Only customers who had ATM cards were lucky, while many who came for other transactions were turned back.

It was gathered that the banks were apprehensive of offering full banking services without police officers who would provide security.

It was also gathered that this was the same in many parts of Lagos where Police stations were torched by hoodlums.

Hoodlums had burnt the Ikotun, Igando Police stations and 10 others in Lagos, one of the reasons, the Police Commands were not organized to provide security at most of the banks.
He hoodlums had also attempted to burn down Idimu and Ejigbo police stations but were prevented from doing so because of the NNPC pipelines.

Apart from the banks, there was no presence of the Police on the road, another observation that scared many people on Monday.
A source close to the Police said most of the stations were still taking stock of their logistics for operations before fully venturing into full services.

Bank officials who spoke to our Correspondent under anonymity said as far as the Police keep away from the banks, full banking operations would be difficult because of fear of being attacked by armed robbers and hoodlums.
