The Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Monday said it has intercepted three cars where live cartridges were concealed.
The cartridges were concealed in sacks of cassava flour, the Public Relations Officer of the Unit, Theophilus Duniya, said in a statement.
According to the statement, the operatives of the Customs intercepted the three cars along Igbora axis of Oyo State during the weekend.
The drivers of the vehicles were said to have abandoned them on sighting the patrol van of the Customs operatives, the statement said.

Among the items in the vehicles were 751 pieces of AAA, 70mm live Lion Cartridges, sacks of cassava flour, and sacks of parboiled rice.
The items were later taken to the
Unit Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos.
The Acting Customs Comptroller in Charge of the Unit, Hussein Ejibunu, in his reaction to the seizure called on Nigerians to offer useful information that can lead to the arrest of smugglers.
According to him, “Smuggling is the mother of all crimes hence the need to team up and fight it to the barest minimum”.

“It is an act of sabotage that should not be allowed to fester for a long time, most especially with the security challenges in the country. Information is key and germane towards the fight against this cankerworm called smuggling”
